FARMER PRODUCER COMPANIES

A study of constraints and opportunities of Farmer Producer Companies of Uttar Pradesh conducted by Manavodaya showed very clearly that the Board of Directors and CEOs of most companies had poor knowledge of key operational issues in running a farmer company that led to major problems in their functioning. Important knowledge gaps existed
in understanding of compliances needed under the Companies Act, fundamentals of business plan development , opportunities of credit availability and most importantly the methods to involve the marginal and small farmers in the process
Practical training programmes were designed to sharpen these skills together with conventional management subjects like accounting practices and leadership. The programmes also had the Manavodaya distinguishing feature of building awareness of purpose, larger goals of life and work.  The training programmes were attended by a large number of FPCs in Uttar Pradesh with support of NABARD and private sponsors. All programmes were residential and were held at the Manavodaya campus in Lucknow.
We are pleased to share the overwhelming response received from the CEOs and Directors, both male and female, coming from various districts of Uttar Pradesh.
