Yoga camps are now being held occasionally in different villages to foster improved health and to encourage self reflection in habits and work practices. An interesting feature of the camps is the voluntary taking of oath by several local inhabitants to abstain from alcohol, smoking and gutka.

Values For Social Transformation

A fourteen hour course on the subject drew a huge response from the students of final year at IIT Delhi. About 60 students from various departments registered for the course that was held during late evening hours. The overall response can be gauged from the following observation by some students:

"The course is really amazing and two hours in the class pass like two minutes and I think the reason for this is interactive class with total experience sharing. Also, learning first time in IIT, during my three years journey, a course like this, based on real life rural problems, is really nice."

By this type of course we get a direction that how we can use our inner strength to move a society in which we have equality, consciousness.

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

06

Manavodaya represented by its director has been an active institutional partner in the development of the concept and implementation strategy of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), a scheme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, for involvement of institutions of higher learning especially the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and other elite institutions like Indian Institute of Science, Tata Institute of Social Sciences in the transformation of rural India.

Manavodaya received a request for training and guidance to the faculty  of IIT Delhi as a start, a programme that met with a very positive response. Not only did the faculty members took the time off to come for training at Manavodaya, they were instrumental in helping organise a full credit course for the students of IIT Delhi on a similar subject.

Core Values And Values Based Management

An intensive discussion on the above subject by the top management and engineers of Lucknow Development Authority was extremely rewarding.
The programme was organised jointly by Lucknow Management Association and Lucknow Development Authority. Keynote presentations were made by Prof. Himanshu Rai of the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow and Varun Vidyarthi of Manavodaya.

Student Outreach

08

Manavodaya has started organising camps in different educational institutions with the objective of sensitizing the younger generation about successful methods of transformation of the lives of the poor in rural India.

We find that the young mind is keen to understand the process in the context of the challenges faced by them in their own lives. A discussion on methods of development based on the principles of Yoga produced an excellent response. There seems to be a huge scope for nurturing the young minds with the approach ALL LIFE IS YOGA.
