This project was undertaken among sugarcane farmers of district Lakhimpur Kheri with the objective of improving the productivity of land under sugarcane cultivation under the technical guidance of the Indian Sugarcane Research Institute, Government of India.
Here the job of local facilitation for awareness raising and demonstration of new methods was undertaken by the leaders of various farmer’s clubs also known as Master Farmers.
Manavodaya is pleased to note considerable improvement in productivity and net returns from land as a result of the technical interventions facilitated in the project. A booklet giving details of new methods , the methodology of facilitation and benefits gained by farmers was released in the regional office of the National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development, the principal collaborator in the project.
The project also contributed to significant new learning on the process of facilitation for enabling small farmers to access new technology.
